Seachem Cupramine is a superior copper treatment for eradicating external parasites in both freshwater and marine aquariums. It is safer and more effective than traditional copper treatments, ensuring the health and safety of your aquatic life.

Key Features

  • Effective Parasite Treatment: Eradicates Oodinium, Cryptocaryon, Amyloodinium, Ichthyophthirius, and other ectoparasites.
  • Non-Acidic Formula: Less toxic to fish and does not alter water pH.
  • Safe and Stable: Remains in solution and does not contaminate the filter bed.
  • High Therapeutic Index: Wide margin between therapeutic and toxic doses.
  • Easily Removable: Can be removed with chemical filtration such as activated carbon or CupriSorb

Why Choose Seachem Cupramine?

  • Superior Efficacy: More effective than copper sulfate, chloride, and citrate.
  • Safe for Fish: Non-acidic and less toxic, ensuring the safety of your fish.
  • Stable and Reliable: Remains in solution and does not precipitate, providing consistent treatment.
  • Trusted Brand: Seachem is known for its high-quality, reliable aquarium products.

Initial Setup:

  1. Preparation:

    • Remove Invertebrates: Before starting treatment, remove all invertebrates from the tank as they are highly sensitive to copper.
    • Turn Off Filters: Disable UV filters, ozone filters, and remove chemical filtration media like MatrixCarbon and Purigen.
  2. Dosing:

    • Calculate Dosage: Use 20 drops (1 mL) per 40 liters (10.5 US gallons) of water on the first day.
    • Repeat Dose: After 48 hours, repeat the dose. The final copper concentration should be 0.5 mg/L for saltwater and 0.25 mg/L for freshwater.
  3. Monitoring:

    • Test Copper Levels: Use a reliable copper test kit (e.g., Salifert Copper) to ensure the correct copper concentration is maintained.
    • Maintain Concentration: Keep the copper concentration stable for the full treatment period of 14 days.

Maintenance:

  1. Regular Monitoring:

    • Test Water Parameters: Regularly test your aquarium water for copper levels to ensure they remain within the therapeutic range.
    • Adjust Dosage: If copper levels drop, add more Cupramine to maintain the correct concentration.
  2. Post-Treatment:

    • Remove Copper: After completing the treatment, use activated carbon or Seachem CupriSorb to remove any remaining copper from the water.
    • Monitor Fish: Observe your fish for any signs of stress or recurring infection. If necessary, repeat the treatment after a break.
  3. Water Changes:

    • Routine Maintenance: Perform regular water changes to maintain water quality. During water changes, ensure that the copper concentration remains stable by testing and adjusting as needed.
  4. Safety Tips:

    • Avoid Overdosing: Do not exceed the recommended copper concentration, as high levels can be toxic to fish.
    • Handle with Care: In case of eye exposure, promptly and thoroughly wash eyes with water and seek medical attention.
  1. Can Cupramine be used in a reef tank?
No, Cupramine should not be used in tanks with invertebrates as they are sensitive to copper.

  2. How do I remove Cupramine after treatment?
Use activated carbon or Seachem CupriSorb to remove Cupramine from the water.

  3. Is Cupramine safe for use with all fish?
Cupramine is safe for most fish, but always monitor fish closely during treatment and follow dosage instructions carefully.
