Initial Setup

1. Rinse the Media:

   • Rinse Seachem Purigen thoroughly with freshwater to remove any dust or debris before placing it in the filter.

2. Place in Filter:

   • Filter Bag: Place the rinsed Purigen in a fine mesh filter bag (180 microns or less), such as Seachem’s The Bag.
   • Canister Filter: Place the filter bag in the media basket of the canister filter.
   • Other Filters: Purigen can also be used in chemical filtration modules, box filters, or any high-flow area of a trickle filter.

3. Start the Filter:

   • Turn on the filter and ensure proper water flow through the Purigen media.

Maintenance

1. Regular Monitoring:

   • Monitor the water clarity and quality regularly to ensure the Purigen is effectively removing impurities.
   • Purigen will darken progressively as it exhausts, changing from a pale blonde to a dark brown or black.

2. Regenerating the Media:

   • When to Regenerate:
     • Regenerate Purigen when it becomes dark brown or black.
   • Regeneration Process:
     • Soak the exhausted Purigen in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metallic container in a well-ventilated area.
     • Rinse thoroughly with freshwater and soak in a solution containing Seachem Prime or another dechlorinator for 8 hours.
     • Rinse well and return to the filter.

3. Replacing the Media:

   • If regeneration is not desired, replace Purigen every 4 to 6 months, or when you notice a decline in water quality.

4. Storage:

   • Store Seachem Purigen in a cool, dry place.
   • Ensure the container is tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption.

1. How often should I regenerate Purigen?
   Regenerate when it becomes dark brown or black, typically every few months depending on the bioload.

2. Can I use Purigen in a reef tank?
   Yes, Purigen is safe for use in both freshwater and marine aquariums, including reef tanks.

3. Will Purigen affect my aquarium’s pH?
   No, Purigen has minimal impact on pH levels.

   100ml, 250ml & 500ml

You may return most new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.

We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
