Initial Setup

1. Shake well before use.
2. Dose 5 mL per 75 L (20 US gallons) to raise magnesium by approximately 5 mg/L.
3. Add slowly to a high-flow area of the sump or aquarium.
4. Target magnesium levels between 1,250–1,350 mg/L for optimal reef conditions.

Maintenance Dosing

• Test magnesium regularly and re-dose to maintain stable levels.
• A typical reef tank may consume 5–10 mg/L of magnesium per week.
• Use weekly or as needed based on coral growth and water changes.
• Pair with Calcification (calcium) and Eight.Four or Balance (alkalinity) for full mineral support.

Q: Why is magnesium important in a reef tank?
A: Magnesium prevents calcium and carbonate from precipitating, helping maintain stable alkalinity and calcium levels essential for coral growth.

Q: How do I know if my tank needs more magnesium?
A: Signs of magnesium deficiency include poor coral calcification, difficulty maintaining calcium/alkalinity, and slowed coral growth.

Q: Is Ions safe for soft corals and invertebrates?
A: Yes. Ions is reef-safe and suitable for all marine life when used according to dosage instructions.

Q: Will Ions affect pH or alkalinity?
A: No. It is formulated to adjust magnesium only, with no significant effect on pH or KH.

Q: Can I use Ions with a calcium reactor?
A: Yes. Ions is ideal for supplementing magnesium in systems using calcium reactors, which often lack magnesium supplementation.

You may return most new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.

We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
